November 2022 Update.

Recently, we were delighted to receive a Shs.1.33 million from Lions Club and Mason’s Foundation. With this generous donation we have been able to start our lunch programme for the school children. This has been especially helpful as the country is facing severe drought conditions.

Despite this, we at the Children of the Rising Sun home have started to feed all the school children with 2 meals a day to prioritise the children’s nutritional wellbeing.

We have had to purchase 22 mattresses 45, mosquito nets and uniform materials for the school. Thank you Mrs Lisa Marini for donating the bedsheets.

We have also had the opportunity to start redecorating all the buildings; this includes painting and repairs to roofs, doors, desks etc in the month of December. 

We are currently digging a 9ft diameter well as per the geological survey to go down to about 70ft to look for less brackish water for the farm use. The well is being reinforced every 10ft to strengthen it and avoid collapse.

Unfortunately, the outside school kitchen has broken down and we shall have to relocate and build a bigger one with low energy jikos.

Secondary school plans and permissions are being followed up and we hope to get the approval and start the building works. 

We are also pursuing the farm affairs and looking to some collaboration with Pwani University to see if we can use the farm as a teaching ground for those interested and prepare students for graduation.
