Latest update on various projects

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR KIND DONATIONS

GREEN HOUSE
With your kind donations we have been able to purchase 5 greenhouses from Nairobi, and hopefully start installing them in December 2017 which will be fully usable by February 2018.

MILK
Schools closed early this year – They will reopen on 4th January 2017 – we shall commence the food program twice a week from then onwards. The cows are doing well and are now producing sufficient milk for the home. We plan to acquire one or two more cows so that we can start to give milk to all the school children with their morning breakfast.

OUTREACH PROGRAMME
We have sent most of our staff on annual leave as the majority of children have gone for the holidays to friends, guardians or relatives who we have incentivised  by giving them some financial assistance.  As of today we have found placements for all but eight children and we are looking for villagers around the home (under our supervision and the Children’s Department) to fulfil our outreach program –. So they also know a little bit about the life outside.

COUNSELLING FOR UNDER PERFORMING CHILDREN
Performance of our children in the schools is still not up to our expectations – so we are trying to set up extra tuitions from next year. Three of our brilliant children in the boarding school are now under-performing for some reason. Therefore we have implemented a programme to provide counselling for pupils who under perform their capabilities.

COMPUTER CLASSES
Thanks to the solar power we have reset our computers and hopefully will find a teacher next year to start the classes.

TAILORING
Tailoring department is working in a way since we are able to prepare our own school uniforms and other necessities required.

SECONDARY EDUCATION
We have applied to the education department to support secondary education in our school, this will require eight classroom blocks, and we await their response and very much hope that they will support our plan although this plan is very much in an infancy stage.

Through our volunteers who visited the home we have been able to purchase two new energy saving jikos in our kitchen and one large serving table.
